These pieces are the result of my Adam & Eve series begun in 2011. They reconcile my love of realism & abstraction, and a painful childhood memory. It was in Mrs. Kennedy’s 1st Grade class, a no. 2 pencil dug into my finger as I carefully drew a naked woman. The only influence I had at that time was Where Did I Come From? by Peter Mayle. The accurate depiction of a nude woman caused uproar as a student caught a glimpse. Mrs. Kennedy decided it was pornography and immediately called home. I was beaten until broken by my mother’s disapproval and by the embarrassment of my father’s belt. I can only assume that I would have been heralded if I had been born in Europe, moreover applauded if any of the adults had any knowledge of, or interest in Art.
